Fertilizer Plant Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA)

JBW was requested to provide a Dust Hazard Analysis for a fertilizer plant in Oklahoma, that processes humate, a combustible dust with known explosive characteristics. JBW’s scope of services would include an on-site visit of the facility to collect photos and information relevant to the study, while also observing operation equipment in use and gain a more in-depth understanding of operations at the facility by conversing with facility staff. The DHA included a material review outlining explosibility and ignition properties of dust found at the facility. Additionally, an equipment hazard evaluation utilizing the Hazard Decision Matrix table was utilized for each piece of equipment, bin, and storage facility associated with any combustible dust. Final deliverables included a report analysis, material references, as well as recommendations for any DHA remediations.
