JBW provided engineering services for a major dust collection system upgrade for a wood products client. The system was underperforming due to additional loads added over time, yet a large network of ducts and infrastructure was in place that couldn’t simply be replaced.
Our team performed flow analysis to determine which duct needed replacing to obtain minimum convey velocities. Using 3D point clouds, we provided structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering for the replacement of the existing baghouse and fan, all while following NFPA 68 and 664 standards for combustible dust. The result was a vastly improved system for maintenance and operations and a noticeable difference in the facility’s cleanliness.
