JBW performed a dust hazard analysis (DHA) at a cabinetry shop located in Wisconsin that utilized multiple wood processing equipment, including CNC, Saws, and a Sander. The client reached out after their insurance company requested that a DHA be completed at their facility. JBW made a site visit to the client’s facility to review the current site conditions and walk the process down with the client’s project manager and maintenance lead. During the site visit a plan view of the facility was used to ensure JBW, and the mill team were on the same page with the naming and location of each machine. JBW organized the DHA based on each process equipment location and function. This made it easier for a DHA reviewer to understand how the equipment is tied into the process and facility and locate a specific piece of equipment in the DHA. A draft of the DHA was sent to the client where they reviewed it and provided feedback on their process, as well as providing any documentation requested during preliminary recommendations. JBW updated the final copy with the additional documentation and updates from the client. Additionally, JBW created a form to facilitate communication with the local Fire Marshall to ensure any hazard assumed to be covered by the local fire department were covered. In the end, JBW supplied a DHA that identified the process hazards and provided a clear recommended path forward with supplemental documentation to assist the client in completing the recommendations.
