JBW was engaged to provide design and engineering services for the conversion of an existing packaging facility into a large-scale blown film production plant. The scope of the project included the construction of a new high-bay expansion, the installation of four blown film lines, and the integration of new ancillary material handling and utility systems to support the expanded operations.
JBW’s role encompassed detailed engineering design for key systems, including advanced resin handling, process cooling, exhaust, and edge trim recycling. This involved 3D modeling, clash detection, and layout design for essential equipment such as unloading systems, Corona treatment systems, silos, surge bins, resin manifolds, and repelletizers.
In addition to system design, JBW developed general arrangement drawings, provided equipment recommendations, and designed a phased approach for central reprocessing and packaging operations to optimize workflow and maximize capacity within the facility.
Notably, over 30,000 feet of intricate piping design was required, running through tight spaces and requiring close coordination with other design partners to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
The final deliverables included complete piping, ductwork, and equipment layout design packages, for installation by the mechanical contractor.
