Service Water Upgrade

JBW Consulting Engineers was engaged to redesign an underground service water valving system for a Power Generation facility. Over time, the valves and pipelines—added incrementally—had resulted in a configuration that prevented effective pipeline isolation and posed maintenance and accessibility challenges.

To address this, JBW initiated the project by conducting a 3D scan of the underground piping and valve layout to ensure precise measurements. Using this data, we reconfigured the system in 3D, enabling proper isolation of pipelines while improving overall accessibility. Our deliverables included valve and pipe specifications, general arrangement drawings, and isometric fabrication drawings. A key challenge was ensuring safe access to the ladder while preserving full valve operability, which we successfully resolved through careful design optimization.
