Screener Upgrade
Project Summary
JBW Consulting Engineers provided a professional services proposal for the Screener Upgrade Project. This proposal was based on a site visit, subsequent conversations, and a project data sheet supplied by the client. The project aimed to replace the existing over-capacity Acrowood dry screener with a rotary style screener capable of handling up to 45,000 lbs/hr, due to increased throughput from the Green End upgrades. The current location was crowded with equipment and supports, necessitating engineering solutions to fit and operate the new screener.
JBW began by reviewing existing documentation, including models, 3D scans, equipment information, and site photos. They generated 1-3 concepts for review with plant stakeholders, each including plan views, section views, and a 3D isometric view. These concepts were reviewed in Navisworks to determine the best path forward. Once a concept was selected, JBW proceeded with generating issued-for-bid documents to develop the Phase II budget.
The scope of services included three site visits, concept drawings and models, and issued-for-bid documents covering mechanical and structural calculations and drawings. JBW also provided equipment specifications for the screener, conveyor components, valves/dampers, pipe/duct/fittings, and instrumentation. Additional services such as electrical or controls engineering and modeling of other systems were available upon request. Deliverables included concept drawing packages, issued-for-bid drawings, mechanical and structural scopes of work, and coordination models in Navisworks. The project was based on the assumption that JBW would have access to the site and sufficient information to perform the assessment, and that timely feedback would be provided to move forward with the selected concept.
