Steam Duct Access
Project Summary
JBW Consulting Engineers provided engineering and design services for the installation of access platforms on floors 4 and 6 of a client facility to enable safe access to the damper boxes. The project involved the design of cantilevered platforms on floor 4, supported by beams spanning across existing structures, and suspended platforms on floor 6, attached to the existing platform and beams supporting upper floors.
The platforms were designed to ensure the damper boxes were positioned 3-4 feet from the work platform. Additionally, ladders and guardrails were installed on all platforms for enhanced safety. JBW anticipated different design approaches for each platform due to the varying support structures in each area. The project included a thorough design process with stakeholder feedback and constructability reviews, ensuring that the final designs were both practical and efficient for construction.
