Siding Conversion
Project Summary
JBW Consulting Engineers provided design and engineering services for the conversion of an OSB line to siding. This project required significant modifications to the finishing end equipment and systems.
The scope of services included taking the current Phase I design through 60% and 90% completion, including the bid phase and construction documents. JBW coordinated with ConVey, the equipment manufacturer, to update their equipment models and ensure they met deadlines. The project also involved designing and engineering all finishing end platforms, coordinating layouts with the plant and other personnel through weekly calls, and providing model updates as needed.
Additionally, JBW provided engineering support and design for ancillary projects such as the Expert Finish (Next Gen) System, profiler systems, APA Inkjet Upgrade, and auto-grading, based on implementations in other locations. Site visits to facilities were conducted to gather necessary information.
JBW also designed and engineered exhaust stacks and supports for nine ovens, and coordinated the design and engineering of support systems, including electrical control station access, compressed air, and natural gas systems.
This comprehensive approach ensured that the conversion project was well-coordinated and executed, meeting the specific requirements and deadlines set by the project stakeholders.
