Power Study Remediation
Project Summary
JBW Consulting Engineers provided a proposal to address critical electrical safety concerns identified at a recently acquired finishing facility. Following a power study, potentially hazardous conditions were discovered within the facility's electrical infrastructure. JBW was tasked with reviewing the power study, collaborating with facility management and engineering to develop both immediate and long-term remediation plans, and preparing a scope of work and bid package for necessary upgrades.
The remediation efforts focused on correcting numerous violations of NFPA 70 standards, including issues with conductor splicing, improper tap rules, damaged cables, and deteriorating busways. The project also involved coordinating contractor bid walkthroughs and potentially providing on-site support during the installation phase, depending on the specific tasks and requirements. The overarching goal was to ensure the facility's electrical systems were brought into compliance and enhanced for safe operation.
